The ultimate step-by-step manual for starting and growing a jewellery business!

The secret is out! As most of you know, I have worked for Jewellers Academy (and before that the London Jewellery School!) for over a decade now as both a tutor, and as a mentor on the annual Jewellery Business Bootcamp and their new online Diplomas. It is always a joy to work with students to help achieve the jewellery business of their dreams.

So I am so excited to tell you that Jessica has now pulled together her extensive knowledge about starting and running successful jewellery businesses and written a fabulous book to share everything she knows with the world! And I am so proud to play a small part in that as part of her Book Launch team. Some of my photos are featured in the book too which is super exciting!

And I am lucky enough to have been gifted an advanced copy of the book to preview. But the opinions in this review are completely my own!

Initial Thoughts on the Book!

Well the first thing to say about the book is just how beautiful and comprehensive it is! It is A4 in size and is over 400 pages long so it’s a fab coffee table size. But when you dive inside this book is so much more than just a pretty book! It is a step-by-step plan for starting and growing your business - it is seriously like a mini course!! It covers all the key parts of running a small jewellery business such as goal setting, branding, photography, pricing, websites, marketing… And every. single. chapter is full of examples, case studies, templates and tools to help you build YOUR jewellery business on YOUR terms.

It can be very overwhelming when you have a dream, but no idea how to make it happen! This book can help you see the wood from the trees and help you prioritise your time so that you can make it happen!

And this book has something for everyone whether you are just starting out, or whether you want to grow your business and income so that you can work less and earn more.

My favourite parts of the Book!

My favourite parts of the book (apart from the photography chapters, of course ;-) are the Case Studies! There is nothing more inspiring that the stories and advice from fellow jewellers who are absolutely killing it in their niche! And they are so open and honest what has helped them most in terms of levelling up in their jewellery business. Plus it’s always nice to ogle and beautiful jewellery!!! These sections can really help crystallise the kind of business YOU want and the areas you might want to focus on and really brings the concepts discussed in each chapter to life.

The writing style - friendly and supportive!

The one thing I love best about Jess is how warm, approachable and supportive she is - she has owned her own successful jewellery brands and taught other jewellers to make jewellery and build their own successful businesses. So she really knows her stuff! And this comes across in spades in every chapter of her Book. Each chapter is written as almost a conversation with a friend, and the concepts are all broken down into bite sized chunks so you can easily absorb the detail. And the beautiful imagery and graphics really bring the concepts to life and make them easy to understand and apply to your own business.

You are going to feel supported every step of the way and motivated to work on your own business, I promise!

How to use the Book!

So the way I see it, this book can be used in a couple of key ways.

Firstly as almost a course where you read and implement a chapter say each week (or each month if you want to dive a bit deeper into each section!). With 12 chapters, if you really knuckle down and focus, you can have made HUGE leaps and bounds in just 12 weeks or over the course of 12 months. This would be a great way to start a new business or really laser focus on growing an existing business.

The other way is to read it all from cover to cover (and just absorb ALL the advice and knowledge included! And then go back to the chapter(s) that resonated most with you and focus on the areas you feel will help you progress the most. This means you can take a more relaxed approach and dip in and out of the contents as needed to support you and where you feel you need to focus. A bit more like a reference manual.

This book is so comprehensive that it will be a great support no matter what stage your are at!
